With seven other comrades-in-arms, I’ve kicked off the first world jam. We’re jamming away over on Google+, and today creative ideas really picked up. To get things rolling, we came up with a list of inspirational keywords (each participant fired off a single idea), like so:
- Tribes
- Hunger
- Eschaton
- Revolution
- Weather
- Lost Kingdom
- Feud
Lots of evocative, slightly apocalyptic vibes in there. I think everyone’s very excited about those keywords.
For the next steps, we discussed expectations and the purpose of the creative project. Right away, the group pegged a need for a centerpiece, some kind of core idea that we can anchor other creative steps from. Pretty quickly, we zeroed in on a “lost kingdom” at a trade crossroads — a kind of silk road type locale, with historical influences from Karakorum and Karabalgasun (thanks to interesting history guru, Jason Morningstar).
I’ll chronicle development of the world jam here as it develops. Eventually, we’ll offer it up as a game “agnostic” supplement, likely in PDF format.
